Welcome to Electric Toy Trians.org, source for all things electric model trains! You already know that a child’s first electric train set should be set up by an adult and have adult supervision. Although the track and power pack have low voltage, train sets have a lot of small parts.

You can get an electric train set for a child as young as three as it helps their eye and hand coordination – which is even advised for autistic kids - if they cannot get to it when you’re not there, but between five and eight is the age advised by railroaders. Important to a child’s enjoyment is not only the size of the train itself but the layout. A starter set is the best way to go in the beginning.

As the child matures, more fun is had when you begin to add more track because that circling train becomes quite boring. Adding track, switches and turnouts is where the fun really lays. Welcome to our website which will offer suggestions regarding where to go to buy starter sets, also known as ready-to-go sets. All of the model railroad sites have additional track and accessories as well.

Early in 1999, Discount Trains began offering model train stock from their hobby shop in Southern California. It became known as the place to find discontinued model trains and accessories. They soon began offering new model trains and kept expanding their inventory to include model planes and cars. In June of 2005, they formed Go Hobbies, Inc. and began sending their customers to their new company which is still family operated in Riverside, CA.

They sell only new products which include the most popular starter electric toy trains like the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express, The Polar Express (a replica of the movie train), The Pennsylvania Flyer Freight train with smoke, the American Fire and Rescue Express, Amtrak Nor’Easter, Chattanooga Choo Choo and Santa Fe Freight.
